Words from the Presidents

14 years ago (2010), FEBRAP – Brazilian Federation of Psychodrama, held in partnership with IAGP the 17th Brazilian Congress of Psychodrama and the 1st Latin American Congress of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes, in Águas de Lindóia (São Paulo). With Milene De Stefano Feo as President. The theme was: “Time for Time¨?. In 2004, the 14th Brazilian Psychodrama Congress was held in Belo Horizonte with Maria Cecília Veluk Dias Baptista as president. The theme was: “Brazilian society on stage. The Transformative Action of Psychodrama.” Next year (2024), Febrap (Brazilian Psychodrama Federation) will hold, in partnership with IAGP, the 24th Brazilian Psychodrama Congress and the 2nd Latin American Congress of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes – IAGP, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais , Brazil, from September 11th to 14th.
The theme will be: “What World Do We Want? Me, You, Us!”
Over the years, congresses held by Febrap have proposed reflective themes about current society.
We know that Moreno's big dream was to create a meeting where all therapeutic approaches could be brought together. His youngest son was born as the IAGP- International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes.
In 2024, we want to add efforts to maintain the tradition of previous meetings, which presented works of academic excellence, diversity, dialogue between different theoretical lines, different cultures, social realities, in short, all the best we know. It will be the product of good group work.
We wish to count as everyone's alignment with Moren's ideals of transforming society, so that it becomes inclusive and protagonist of its history.
We will bring the support of technology, innovation and resources that expand the possibilities for exchanging experiences and developing knowledge, including, again at the Congress, the virtual modality, existing since 2020, favoring even more meeting opportunities. We will leave a legacy with electronic records in videos, posters, Annals, among other proposals under construction.
These and other news await you! Welcome everyone to the 24th Brazilian Congress of Psychodrama and 2nd Latin American Regional IAGP Congress of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes!!!

Dear participants of the II IAGP Latin American Regional Congress,

It is with immense joy and honor that I address all of you at this very special moment, in which we are preparing to celebrate the second edition of the Latin American Regional Congress of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP). This is an event of great significance for our community and for the field of group practices in our region.

As president of IAGP, it is a privilege to represent an organization whose mission is to promote the international development of group interventions, in the areas of clinical practice, consultancy, education, research and in sociocultural contexts. We firmly believe in the transformative power of groups and the value of the connections that form through this process.

This congress is a living expression of this belief. Bringing together professionals from across Latin America and other regions to share experiences is a unique opportunity for mutual enrichment. Our cultural differences, theoretical perspectives and practical approaches can be the fuel for innovations that will positively impact our communities and society at large.

IAGP has been committed to expanding its global reach, promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in our community. This congress reflects that commitment. Here, we welcome everyone, regardless of background, language or previous experience. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

The second edition of this congress is a testament to our commitment to strengthening ties within the IAGP Latin American community. The exchange of ideas, discussion of experiences and exploration of new approaches are vital to the advancement of our discipline.

Furthermore, we seek continuity and innovation. We have a 50-year legacy dating back to the founding of IAGP by Jacob Levy Moreno, a visionary whose work continues to inspire generations of group therapists around the world. We continue to honor his legacy and that of other co-founders, who have made important contributions over these 50 years, while seeking innovations that can take our discipline to new levels of effectiveness and relevance.

This congress is not just an event; It's a meeting point. It is an opportunity for learning, growth and collaboration that I hope will result in significant advances in our clinical practices and research.

Make the most of this conference, get involved in the discussions and connections that will form and leave inspired and reinvigorated in your professional journey. I thank each of you for being part of this vibrant community and for contributing to the advancement of group practices in Latin America and beyond.

May this congress be a milestone in our professional and personal lives, and may the friendships and collaborations started here last for many years.

With gratitude and enthusiasm,

Heloisa Fleury, President, International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP)

Although the Brazilian Federation of Psychodrama – FEBRAP maintains its initial objectives since its foundation in 1976, to appoint psychodramatists, maintain the Brazilian Journal of Psychodrama and hold a Brazilian Psychodrama Congress every two years, the challenges of recent years have been many. Especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had important changes.

With 26 federated schools that form this collective, today we have our own headquarters in São Paulo, but we are connected through virtual platforms with all parts of Brazil and the world. Always itinerant, our congresses today take place in a hybrid format, being an in-person congress and an online one, in parallel.

Our magazine, the Revista Brasileira de Psicodrama, went from being printed to being virtual, ascending to new platforms and being read internationally.

FEBRAP's social networks are multiplying and the psychodramatic movement, not always directly linked to the Federation, remains connected.

The work started at EM CENA of the 20th Brazilian Psychodrama Congress became an official project – Public Psychodrama of Diadema (PPDOL) directed by psychodramatists from several Psychodrama schools.

The 24th CBP comes with something new: we have resumed our partnership with the IAGP (International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes). CBP and IAGP were already together in holding the 17th Brazilian Psychodrama Congress, in 2010. The challenges of an international congress alongside the national one, in a hybrid way and stimulating new productions, strengthen us.

We hope that new fruits will be generated in the increasingly strong partnership with IAGP, as well as with the FIP (Ibero-American Psychodrama Forum), director, together with the current management of FEBRAP of the 14th CIP (Ibero-American Psychodrama Congress) occurred in 2023, in Brazil.
